Energy efficient hydraulics saves fuel costs

In the past constant pump rotation speed systems together with proportional valves have been in the market. Innovative new systems use variable speed pumps thereby the energy consumption can be reduced up to 60%. This reduces your fuel costs drastically.

ATP Hydraulik has developed a mechatronic system comparing three intelligent hydraulic power units concerning energy efficiency. All three units do the same mechanical load via a cylinder and a mechanical gear they lift 600 kg each.
The first hydraulic power unit exists of a vane pump which is driven with contant speed. On the actuator side a proportional valve is used as is common with most systems in the market and mounted on the ships now.

The second solution features a servopump which operates in four quadrant mode. The complete load sits on the pump. The system is highly dynamic.

The third solution is a variable speed vane pump. Through control of the pump rotation speed only as much oil as is needed is pumped into the system. Thereby upto 60% of the energy is saved. Also no pressure filter is needed and the reservoir size can be smaller. Last but not least no cooling is needed.

All the data is transferred into the cloud. ATP Hydraulik also shows a state of the art maintenance system combining Hydraulics with Microsoft hololens-augmented reality (see separate press release).
